one for which he shall have been appointed. The said asses-
sors-at-large shall determine the time when the assessment
shall be made in the respective election districts, and shall
notify the assessors for the said respective election districts
when and where the assessment shall commence in such elec-
tion district or districts; and at such time as is so determined

on, and the election district assessor notified thereof; it shall
be the duty of such election district assessor to join said asses-
sors-at-large and proceed conjointly with them to make the
valuation and assessment herein required to be made. The re-
vision of all assessments made in the assessment districts of
the several counties, and all appeals taken from the assess-
ments made by the assessors in said assessment districts shall
be made to the County Commisioners in the several counties,
sitting as boards of control and review for their respective
counties.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the assessors appointed un-

der this Act shall receive not more than the sum of five dol
lars for every day of actual service performed by them under
this Act; provided that the assessors of Garrett County shall
receive three dollars per day. Each County Commissioner of
a county having three Commissioners shall receive five dollars
per day, except the County Commissioners of Baltimore Coun-
ty, who shall each receive $10.00 per day for actual services
rendered as members of the Board of Control and Review, and

the County Commissioners of counties having more than three
Commissioners shall each receive three dollars per day for
actual services rendered as members of the Board of Control
and Review, except in Montgomery County and Harford Coun
ty, where each member of the Board of County Commissioners
acting as the Board of Control and Review shall receive five
dollars per day for actual service rendered as members of
said Board; and except the County Commissioners of Cecil
County, who shall not be entitled to receive any compensa-
tion for the extra duties imposed on them by the provisions
of this Act in addition to the salary they now receive. The

County Commissioners of the several counties sitting as a
board of control and review shall have the right to appoint a
clerk or clerks (in addition to the regular clerk to said Boards
of County Commissioners), who shall receive for each day of
actual service as such clerk the sum of four dollars per day;
provided that said clerk or clerks shall in Garrett County re-
ceive not more than three dollars per day, and who shall be
subject to removal at the pleasure of such board. The counsel
to the County Commissioners in their respective counties shall
be counsel to said Commissioners sitting as a board of con-
trol and review, and shall be entitled to fair and reasonable
