1424 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 19.
AN ACT to incorporate the Interstate Farmers Exchange.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That George T. Littleton, Jacob H. Covington, Thomas I.
Kent, Nutter J. Wimbrow, James S. Small, Luther J. Custis,
Noah T. Matthews, Robert L. Custis, E. A. Lockerman, Joseph
C. Taylor, William M. Coard, Thomas Henderson, Lloyd W.
Jones, I. Thomas Paradee, Clyde V. Redden, Stephen D. Red-
den, J. Parker Ross, John H. Parks, Lumie T. Parks, William
Wigton and L. Paul Ewell, all residents of Worcester County,
Maryland; and Edward F. Wilson, Robert L. Cluff, William H.
Mason, William S. McDaniel, William W. Beauchamp, Charles
L. Jones, Harold C. Mills, Emory C. Payne and Edward W.
Cluff, all residents of Somerset County, Maryland; and G.
Henry Bundick, Edwin F. Chapman, John W. Justis and
William T. Gladding, all residents of Accomac County, Vir-
ginia, and their successors, associates and assigns, be and they
are hereby constitued a body corporate under the name of The
Interstate Farmers Exchange, and by that name shall be known
in law, and shall have perpetual succession and the power to
sue and be sued, complain and defend in any court of law or
equity, to make and use a common seal and alter the same at
pleasure, and shall exercise and enjoy all the rights, powers
and privileges pertaining to such corporate bodies and neces-
sary for the purposes hereinafter set forth, and said corporation
may make a constitution, by-laws, rules and regulations con-
sistent with the existing laws of the State of Maryland, for the
government of all under its authority, for the management of
its estate and property, for the due and orderly conduct of its
business and affairs, and for the collection, investment and
disbursement of all funds under its control.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall
have power, and it is hereby authorized to engage in a business
of buying and selling any and all farm products, commonly
known as produce, of selling produce as the agent of the pro-
ducer, of consigning produce as the agent of the producer, of
inspecting and grading produce for the producer upon such
terms as may be authorized by the by-laws, rules and regula-
tions, and marking the same with its brand or trade mark, and
owning and operating storage warehouses and packing houses
for produce and canning and packing produce, and owning and
operating storage warehouses and packing houses for the can-
ning and packing of same, and generally of doing all other
lawful things customary or necessary for the carrying on of a
general trade, both on its own account and as agents for the
producers or owners of all varieties of farm products aud can-
