PRIVATE ACTS. 1409

advantageous to the construction and operation of such pole
lines, electric plants, dams or quarries, by purchase, gift or
grant; and for the purpose of obtaining such rights of way as
may be needed for the proper construction of such pole line or
lines, when said company cannot agree with the owner, or
where the owner is femme covert, under age, or non compos
mentis, or under other legal disability, or out of said State
when said property may be deeded, said company may proceed
to condemn and acquire the use thereof in the manner pro-
vided in Article 23 of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of said
company shall be ten thousand dollars, to be divided into one
hundred shares of the par value of one hundred dollars each,
with the privilege of increasing the capital stock from time
to time by vote of the stockholders, at a special meeting held
for that purpose, and all subscriptions to such stock shall be
paid at such times as the board of directors may determine,
and no stockholder shall be liable for more than the amount
of his unpaid subscription to such stock at its par value.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That it shall be lawful for said
company to own and hold the stock of any other corporation
now incorporated, or which may hereafter be incorporated,
for any one or more of the purposes set forth in this Act, and
said company may acquire by lease, purchase, merger, consoli-
dation or otherwise, the property and franchise of any such
corporation in such manner and form and to such extent as
may at present or hereafter be authorized by the laws of the
State to which such corporation may belong, and this com-
pany is authorized to enter into any agreement with any such
corporation deemed for the common benefit of both.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the principal office and place
of business of said company shall be at Darlington, Harford
County, Maryland; provided, that the powers herein conferred
to this corporation shall be limited to the Counties of Balti-
more, Harford and Cecil; and provided further, that said com-
pany shall be subject to Article 23 of the Code of Public General
Laws of this State, title "Corporations."

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to amend the charter of the Hannah More Academy
by repealing and re-enacting Section 2 of Chapter 15 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland, Session 1874.
