that he will diligently and honestly perform the duties of such
office and will not knowingly violate or permit a violation of
any provision of said Article 11; that, he is the owner in good
faith of stock in this bank, standing in his name on the books
of the bank. Any. vacancy in the board of directors shall be
filled by the board, and the directors so appointed shall hold
office until the next election. The officers of the bank shall be
elected by the board of directors, and hold their offices for one
year and until their successors have been elected and qualified,
unless sooner removed by the board of directors. The presi-
dent and directors of the bank for the time being shall give
three weeks' public notice in at least two newsapers published
in Allegany County.

Whenever any deposit shall be made in this bank by and
in the name of any minor or female, being or thereafter becom-
ing a married woman, the same shall be held for the exclusive
right and benefit of such minor or female and free from the
control or lien of all persons whatsoever, except creditors, and
shall be paid, with any interest due thereon, to the person in
whose name the deposit shall have been made, and the receipt
of such minor or female shall be a sufficient release or dis-
charge for such deposit to the bank.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 709.

AN ACT to amend the Charter of The Manchester Bank of
Carroll County, Maryland, by changing its name to "The
Manchester Bank," increasing its powers so as to enable it
to engage in a general banking business, authorizing and
increasing its capital stock and ratifying and confirming its
acts previously done.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That The Manchester Bank of Carroll County, Maryland,
a corporation heretofore duly incorporated under the Public
General Laws of the State of Maryland, shall hereafter be
known as The Manchester Bank, and by such name shall have
perpetual succession, and in addition to the powers which it
already possesses under its charter of incorporation, which is
hereby ratified and confirmed, it shall have and possess the
further and additional powers, rights and privileges hereinafter
set forth.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said The Man-
chester Bank be and it is hereby authorized and empowered to-
