visions, prohibitions and penalties prescribed in Chapter 122
of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1908,
relating to corrupt practices at general and primary elections
in this State and all the provisions, prohibitions and penalties
prescribed in said Act, so far as the same relate to primary
elections, are hereby declared to be applicable to the primary
elections in this subtitle provided for.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act
shall be taken or construed to repeal or modify the provisions
of the existing law providing for and regulating the manner of
making independent nominations for any office.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all laws and Acts,
both general and local, or parts thereof hereinbefore enacted,
applicable to and regulating primary elections in the State of
Maryland, so far as they may be inconsistent with any of the
provisions of this Act, be and the same are hereby repealed.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 249.
AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 33 of the Code
of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Elections," sub-
title "Primary Elections," to follow Section 160w of said
Article, and to be known as Section 160x.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That an additional section be and the same is hereby
added to Article 33 of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, title "Elections," subtitle "Primary Elections," to
follow Section 160w of said Article, to be known as Section
160x, and to read as follows:
SEC. 160x. In the event of any vacancy occurring because
of the death or resignation of any person nominated for any
State or judicial office, or as a candidate for member of the
Congress of the United States, under the provisions of the pre-
ceding sections of this Article, beginning with Section 160a,
such vacancy shall be filled by the State Central Committee,
or governing body for the State, of the political party to which
said nominee belongs; and in the event of any vacancy occur-
ring because of the resignation or death of any person nomi-
nated for any office in any county of this State under the pro-
visions of the aforesaid preceding sections of this Article, such
vacancy shall be filled by the State Central Committee, or gov-
erning body of the party to which said nominee belongs, of the
county in which any such vacancy occurs.
