of Baltimore," be and the same is hereby repealed and re-en-
acted so as to read as follows:
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the Board of directors, a
majority of whom shall constitute a quorum, shall consist of at
least seven stockholders, and as many more as desired, and
shall make by-laws for the bank and manage its affairs; they
shall require the president, vice-president and cashier of the
bank to respectively execute, with approved corporate or in-
dividual surety, a bond (for faithful performance of duty),
each in the penalty of f 30,000, and to file their said bonds be-
fore entering upon their respective duties; provided, however,
that one corporation but not less than two individuals may be-
come surety on the bonds aforesaid." The board of directors
shall have power to discount notes, and any three directors
may at any board meeting (in the absence of a quorum) dis-
count notes; the directors shall regulate all matters concerning
deposits of all kinds, and may pay interest thereon, and may,
by a majority vote, full any vacancy which may occur in the
Board, but non-residence shall not disqualify a director.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That any and all sections and parts of sections
of Chapter 222 of the Acts of 1872, entitled "An Act to incor
porate the German American Bank of Baltimore," inconsistent
with the aforegoing, be and the same are, to the extent of such
inconsistency, but no further, hereby repealed.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 159.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections 2
and 4 of Chapter 140 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland, passed at the December Session, 1829, entitled
"An Act to incorporate the Baltimore Hebrew Congrega-
tion," and Section 4 of Chapter 118 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January Session,
1852.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 2 and 4 of Chapter 140 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland passed at the December Ses-
sion, 1829, entitled "An Act to incorporate the Baltimore He-
brew Congregation," be and they are hereby repealed and re
enacted with amendments, so as to read as follows:
SEC. 2. That the members of the said congregation of the
age of twenty-one years and over may and shall meet on the
first Monday in January, in each and every year, or within
