dition as herein before provided, and keeping the jail in a clean
and tidy condition; and the County Commissioners shall not
pay said Sheriff for any service he may render in the discharge
of his official duties any further or other compensation and shall
not be in any way liable for any fees now or which may here-
after be allowed said Sheriff by law or for any further compen-
sation than as above provided for the discharge of his official
duties.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
on July 1st, 1918.

CHAPTER 257.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 14 of
Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title '' County
Commissioners", sub-title "General Provisions", so as to pro-
vide for the compensation of the County Commissioners of
St. Mary's County.

(Vetoed.)

CHAPTER 258.

AN ACT to repeal Section 250 of Article 18 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of the State of Maryland, title "Queen
Anne's County," sub-title "Sudlersville," and to re-enact
same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 250 of Article 18 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Queen Anne's County," sub-title "Sudlers-
ville," be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted to
read as follows:

Section 250. On or before the first day of July, nineteen
hundred and eighteen, and on or before the first day of July
of each third year thereafter, the Commissioners of Sudlersville
shall appoint three assessors, residents and taxpayers of said
town, who shall, under the direction of said Commissioners,
make an assessment of all property real and personal, in said
town, now subject to taxation by the County Commissioners of
Queen Anne's County but with this exception, however, that no
