the payment of assessments for benefits resulting from the
establishment of sewerage systems in Baltimore County to
be paid in instalments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Article 3 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland as
codified in the Baltimore County Code of 1916, title "Balti-
more County, " sub-title "Health and Sanitation, " be and the
same is hereby amended by adding an additional section there-
to to follow immediately after Section 287 and to be known as
Section 267A, and to read as follows:

Section 267A. The County Commissioners of Baltimore
County are authorized to allow and provide for the payment of
any assessment which may have been made, levied or imposed
under Section 287, or which may hereafter be made, levied or
assessed thereunder in instalments and to fix the amount of such
instalments, the interest on deferred payments at a rate not
exceeding six per cent, per annum and the time within which
all such instalments must be paid.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is emer-
gency legislation and is necessary to the public health and
safety and shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 100.

AN ACT to provide for the removal of snow and ice on side-
walks within the limits of public highways in Baltimore
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall be the duty of each and every person, in-
corporated society, public institution, or other corporation us-
ing or occupying in any manner or for any purpose whatso-
ever any house, store, shop, stable or tenement of any kind and
of persons having charge of churches and public buildings of
every description and the owners of unoccupied houses and un-
improved lots situated on any street along which have been con-
structed paved sidewalks in Baltimore County, within 3 hours
after the fall of any snow (unless the snow shall have ceased
to* fall between the hours of 3 o'clock P. M. and 6 o'clock on
the following morning in which case it shall be removal before
