day of May, 1908, but all such cases and violations shall be
prosecuted as if this Act had not been passed or adopted.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That chapter six of the Acts of
1894, and all other laws inconsistent with the provisions of
this Act, be and the same are hereby repealed.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 189.
AN ACT to provide for the decision by popular vote in Carroll
county of the question whether or not licenses shall be issued
in said county for the sale of intoxicating liquors.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That upon the filing in the office of the Supervisors of
Elections of Carroll county, at least sixty days before the gen-
eral election to be held in the year 1909, of a petition as in this
Act provided, directed to such supervisors of election, contain-
ing the signatures of legal voters of Carroll county in- number
not less than two-fifths of the registered vote of said county,
to submit to the voters of said county the proposition "whether
or not license shall be issued in Carroll county for the sale of
intoxicating liquors," said proposition shall be submitted at
such election, as in this Act provided, to the legal voters of said
county.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That a petition for submission of
said proposition shall be in substantially the following form:
"To the Board of Supervisors of Elections of Carroll county:
The undersigned, legal and registered voters of Carroll county,
respectfully petition that you cause to be submitted, in the
manner provided by law, to the voters of Carroll county for
their decision at the next election, the proposition 'whether or
not license shall be issued in Carroll county for the sale of in-
toxicating liquors.'

Such petition shall consist of sheets having such form printed
or written at the top thereof and shall be signed by the legal
voters in their own proper persons only, and opposite the signa-
