688 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Laws of Maryland, title "Carroll County," sub-title "County
Commissioners," be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
follows:

18. There shall be three County Commissioners for Carfoll
county, who shall each receive four dollars per day for each
day they shall be engaged in the discharge of their duties, and
mileage at the rate of ten cents for every mile over five miles
from their places of residence.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 6, 1908.

CHAPTER 252.

AN ACT to amend article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws,
title "Carroll County," by adding twenty new sections
thereto, to follow after section 54 of said article 7, under the
new sub-title of "Intoxicating Liquors," to be designated as
sections 54A to 54T (both inclusive) ; to regulate the sale
and the granting of licenses for the sale of spirituous and
fermented liquors in Carroll county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"Carroll County," be and the same is hereby amended by
adding twenty new sections thereto under the new sub-title
of "Intoxicating Liquors," to follow after section 54, to be
designated section 54.v to section 54r (both inclusive), and
to read as follows:

SEC. 54A. No person shall hereafter sell, offer or keep for
sale in Carroll county, State of Maryland, any spirituous or
fermented liquors of any kind whatsoever without having pre-
viously obtained a license therefor as hereinafter provided, but
this Act shall not apply to a sale or sales made by any person
under provisions of law requiring him to sell personal property,
or to a sale of cider or native wines by the maker thereof, and
not suffered to be drunk on his premises.

SEC. 54B. All licenses to sell spirituous and fermented liquors
shall expire on the first day of May next ensuing the date of
their issue, and shall be issued for twelve or any less number
of months, but for no fractional part of a month.

SEC. 54C. No license shall be issued to any person or persons
to sell spirituous or fermented liquors in Carroll county afore-
said until he or they shall comply with the following condi-
