payment of the interest thereon the said County Commissioners
are hereby empowered and directed to annually levy on the
assessable property of said county such sum or sums of money
as shall in their discretion be necessary for the prompt pay-
ment of the interest on said bonds and the principal thereof
when the same may become due; which said sum or sums thus
levied shall be strictly applied to the payment of said interest
and to the redemption of said bonds, as the same shall mature,
and to no other debts and obligations of said county.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the bonds authorized by this
Act shall be exempt from all taxation whatsoever, and the
interest on said bonds shall be receivable in payment of county
taxes.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 831.
AN ACT to repeal section 27 of chapter 284 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the session of 1906,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 27 of chapter 284 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland, passed at the session of 1906, be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as
to read as follows:
SEC. 27. And be it further enacted, That the said commis-
sioners «nay pass such by-laws and ordinances as they shall
deem necessary for the good government of said town and the
inhabitants thereof; and for the maintaining of a jail or lock-up
for the temporary detention, when necessary, of persons who
would be by law liable to detention in the county jail; also for
the prevention, removal or abatement of nuisance; to prevent
swine, geese, animals, stock and poultry of every kind from
going at large; for controlling the erection and location of
buildings, fences, stock inclosures, and for prohibiting and
controlling the use of powder, firearms, firecrackers and other
explosives; for the controlling of the repairs of any buildings
when repaired to the extent of new roof or weather-boarding;
for the protection of public property and sidewalks and streets
and to regulate the use of the same, including the rate of speed
over them, and to protect shade or ornamental trees from injury
or obstructions; for the paving of sidewalks, and assessing and
