ant secretary to the board, whose salary shall be eighteen hun-
dred dollars per annum, payable monthly.
746. They are authorized, empowered and directed to select
some suitable person to act as secretary to the Marshal of
Police of said city, at a salary of eighteen hundred dollars per
annum, payable monthly; and the said secretary upon entering
upon the duties of his office shall enter into bond to the State
of Maryland in the penalty of two thousand dollars, condi-
tioned for the faithful discharge of his duties as such secretary,
the said bond to be approved by the said Board of Police Com-
missioners.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 234.
AN ACT to repeal section 745 of article 4 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland, entitled "City of Baltimore,"
sub-title "Police Commissioners," as amended and re-enacted
by chapter 123 of the Acts of 1898, as amended by chapter
425 of the Acts of 1900, as amended by chapter 129 of the
Acts of 1906, and to re-enact the said section with amend-
ments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 745 of article 4 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, entitled "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Po-
lice Commissioners," as amended and re-enacted by chapter 123
of the Acts of 1868, as amended by chapter 425 of the Acts of
1900, as amended by chapter 129 of the Acts of 1906, be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as
to read as follows:
SEC. 745. The said Board of Police Commissioners are au-
thorized and required, immediately on entering on their duties
of their office to appoint, enroll and employ a permanent police
force for the city of Baltimore, which they shall arm and equip
as they may judge necessary, under such rules and regulations
as they may from time to time prescribe, and the said board
shall have the power to remove any police officer or officers of
police, or any detective, for the violation of any rule or regula-
tion which they may make and promulgate to the said police
force, officers of police, or any detective; said police force shall
consist of one marshal and one deputy marshal of police of the
