448 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

he sell or give away any spirituous or fermented liquors to any
person whose parents, guardian, husband or wife shall have
given such licensee notice, in writing, under oath, that such
person is of intemperate habits, nor shall he sell or give away
any spirituous or fermented liquors at his place of business
between the hours of twelve o'clock midnight and five o'clock
A. M. at any time.

231. No person having a license to sell spirituous or fer-
mented liquors in quantities less than a quart at any place,
shall place or maintain, or permit to be placed or maintained,
any screen, blind, curtain, partition or any obstruction that
will interfere with a view of the business conducted on the
premises.

232. Every person receiving a license under this sub-title
to sell spirituous or fermented liquors shall frame his license
under glass and place the same so that it shall at all times
be conspicuous and easily read in his chief place of making
sales, and no license issued under this sub-title shall authorize
sales by any person who shall neglect this requirement

233. If any person shall hereafter be convicted of selling
spirituous or fermented liquors without having procured a
license therefor under the provisions of this sub-title, he shall
be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than three hundred dol-
lars, one-half of said fine to be paid to the informer, or in-
formers, or undergo imprisonment in jail for not less than three
months, nor more than twelve months, or be both fined and
imprisoned in the discretion of the court.

234. If any person having a license under the provisions of
this sub-title shall violate any of the provisions of this sub-
title, upon conviction thereof, except in the cases enumerated
in tie next preceding section, he shall, for the first offense, pay
a fine of not less than fifty dollars, nor more than two hundred
dollars, and on conviction for a second offense he shall pay a
fine of not less than one hundred dollars, and not more than
two hundred dollars, and his license may, in the discretion of
the court, be suppressed.

235. If any person having a license under the provisions of
this sub-title shall sell or barter any spirituous or fermented
liquors of any kind to any person who is a minor or under
twenty-one years of age, or shall sell or barter to any person
such spirituous or fermented liquors for the purpose of being
drunk by any person who is a minor or under twenty-one years
of age, or shall give to any such person who is a minor or under
twenty-one years of age any spirituous or fermented liquors,
or shall allow upon the premises occupied by him any person
