and shall destroy all orders for the issue of subpoenas to
procure the attendance of witnesses in civil and criminal
cases, and the sheriff's returns of such subpoenas, which have
lain in the said clerk's office for two years and upwards.
60. The books now in the office of said clerk, lettered and
known respectively as Plats No. 1 and Plats No. 2, are hereby
declared to be records belonging to said clerk's office; and all
plats recorded therein by said clerk shall have the same effect
and validity as if recorded among the land records, or the
mortgage records, or the judicial records of said clerk's office,
as the nature of the ease may require. The original and cer-
tified copies of plats recorded in said clerk's office shall be
receivable in evidence to the same effect and extent as original
and certified copies of other records in said office; and in the
event of the loss, destruction or defacement, in whole or in
part, of any original plat so recorded, certified copies of the
original or of copies previously certified may be substituted
therefor with all the effect of the originals.
61. It shall be lawful to close the clerk's office of said court
at the hour of 1 P. M. on Saturday of each week; provided,
either judge of the Circuit Court of said county may order
and direct at any time said office to be kept open, and the clerk
and such deputies to remain for such a time as said judge may
deem necessary to the convenience of the court.
62. Said clerk shall make or have made all such tran-
scripts of the land indexes and mortgage indexes in his office
and of the equity dockets and indexes to conform to the
requirements of sections 55 and 56 of article 3 of the Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Baltimore County, " sub-title
"Clerk, " as may from time to time be required, the same only
to be done on the written order of one of the judges of said
court, and subject to his approval.
63. Said clerk is further authorized and required, under
the supervision of the judges of said court, to procure or have
procured suitable cases, of modern plans and styles, in which
to file, or have filed, the law, insolvent and miscellaneous
papers in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Bal-
timore County, and to make such changes in and additions to
the furniture and fixtures of said office, subject to the approval
of the judges aforesaid, as he shall from time to time deem
necessary.
64. The expense incurred in the making up of said tran-
scripts and of procuring the necessary cases and of filing the
