ARTICLE III.

BALTIMORE COUNTY.

CHAPTER 495.

AN ACT to repeal article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title "Baltimore County, " and the several acts
and parts of acts amendatory thereof or inconsistent there-
with, and to re-enact said article 3, with amendments, under
appropriate sub-titles.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "Baltimore County, " and the several Acts and parts
of Acts amendatory thereof or inconsistent therewith, be and
the same are hereby repealed, and the said article 3 is hereby
re-enacted, with amendments, under the appropriate sub-titles
hereinafter contained, so as to read as follows:

1. It shall not be lawful for any person or persons riding
on a bicycle or other vehicle of that description, to ride upon
any sidewalk or footway laid along any public highway in
Baltimore county, or upon any sidewalk or footway laid along
any private road or street in the said county.

2. Any person violating this section shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, before
a justice of the peace, shall be liable to a fine of not less than
two dollars ($2) nor more than five dollars ($5) for each and
every offense.

3. It shall be lawful for banks and bankers in Baltimore
county to close their doors for business at twelve o'clock noon
on each and every Saturday in the year; after twelve o'clock
noon shall be a legal half-holiday, so far as regards the pre-
senting for payment or acceptance, and the protesting and
giving notice of the dishonor of bills of exchange, bank chocks,
drafts, promissory notes and other negotiable paper, and for
these purposes shall be treated and considered as the first
day of the week, commonly called Sunday, and all such bills,
checks, drafts and notes presentable for acceptance or pay-
ment on the secular or business days next succeeding; pro-
vided, however, that all bills of exchange, drafts and promis-
sory notes made after the passage of this Act, except those
