for said election districts 4, 5, 6, 14, 22 and 23 shall be entitled
to receive said monthly salary unless he shall make the monthly
report under oath as above required, and snail maintain an
office for the transaction of such business as may be brought
before him.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 629.
AN ACT to repeal sections 184A4, 184A7, 184A10 and 184A14 of
article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of the State of
Maryland, title "Allegany County, " sub-title "Midland, " as
enacted by chapter 382 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of 1906, and to re-enact the same with amendments, and to
add four new sections thereto, to be known and designated as
sections 184A19, 184A20, 184A21 and 184A22.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 184A4, 184A7, 184A10 and 184A14 of article
1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of the State of Maryland,
title "Allegany County, " sub-title "Midland, " as the same were
enacted by chapter 382 of the Acts of 1906, be and the same are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, and that four new sections be
added thereto, to be known and designated as sections 184A19,
184A20, 184A21 and 184A22, to read as follows:
184A4. No person shall be eligible to the office of Mayor
unless he has attained the age of twenty-five years, and shall
have resided in the town limits of Midland, as prescribed in the
plat and survey thereof on record in the clerk's office of Alle-
gany county, for three years next preceding his election, and
shall also be assessed on the tax books of the town of Midland
with an amount not less than two hundred dollars in real prop-
erty. The Mayor elected at any regular election shall hold office
for one year from the first Monday in June next after his elec-
tion and until his successor is elected and, qualified. Should
a vacancy occur in the office of Mayor more than six months
before the expiration of his time by reason of removal from the
town, death, resignation or removal from office or otherwise,
the Council shall, without delay, proceed to elect a successor,
who shall possess the same qualifications as herein provided for
the election of the Mayor by the people, but should the Mayor
be absent for a shorter time, or vacate the office for a shorter
period, then and in such case the clerk shall act as Mayor in
