ARTICLE I.

ALLEGANY COUNTY.

CHAPTER 559.

AN ACT to incorporate the town of Barton, Allegany County,
Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the citizens of the town of Barton, in Allegany
county, shall be and they are hereby constituted and made a
body corporate by the name of the "Mayor and Town Council
of Barton, " with all the privileges of a municipal corporation,
by that name to sue and be sued, to have and use a common
seal, and to have perpetual succession,

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the corporate limits of said
town shall be as follows: Beginning at a cucumber tree stand-
ing on the north side of Potomac Tram road, and running
thence north twenty-eight and one-half degrees east 500 feet to
an oak tree; thence north 10 degrees east 300 feet to a hickory
tree; thence north 20 degrees east 530 feet to an oak tree;
thence north twenty-eight and one-half degrees east 436 feet to
a beech tree; thence north two and one-half degrees east 250
feet to a thorn bush; thence north twenty-eight and one-half
degrees east 1044 feet to a leaning oak tree; thence north 39
degrees east 857 feet to a telegraph pole; thence north 60 degrees
west 1150 feet to a sugar tree; thence south eighty-seven and
three-quarters degrees west 500 feet to a locust tree; thence north
59 degrees west 256 feet to a post; thence south 25 degrees west
686 feet to a post; thence south 27 degrees west 476 feet to a
locust tree; thence south 3 degrees west 750 feet to the corner
of Footen's stable; thence south twenty-five and one-half
degrees west 494 feet to an oak tree; thence south 17 degrees
east 1000 feet to a post near Potomac Dump; thence south 78
degrees east 775 feet to the beginning at the cucumber tree,
and the property within the said lines shall be subjected to
such taxes and charges as may be deemed necessary by the said
Mayor and Councilmen, or a majority of them, to support and
maintain and provide for the expenses which may at any time
be incurred in the government and improvement of said town.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the male citizens of the town
of Barton aforesaid, of the age of twenty-one years and up-
