PRIVATE ACTS. 1459

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That said company shall have
the power to purchase, lease, charter, construct, hold, main-
tain and operate launches, scows, rafts, boats and vessels of
every character or description propelled by steam, gasoline,
electricity or other motive power, from a point on the Sus-
quehanna river, on both sides thereof, at or near the village
of Shure's Landing, in Harford county, to a point on said
river at Broad creek, in Harford county, to a point in Cecil
county, same distance south of State line as Broad creek, in
Harford county, Maryland, and shall have the power to en-
gage in the business of ferrying passengers, parcels, packages,
live stock and freight of every description or character in said
launches, scows, rafts, boats and vessels, propelled as afore-
said, and to charge therefor as a reward such rates as the
directors of the said company may from time to time deter-
mine and fix, and the said company, for the purposes of its
business, may purchase and hold real estate or convey the same
when not required longer, or may lease, rent, purchase, build,
construct, maintain and operate piers, wharves, warehouses,
stations, waiting rooms or other personal property which may
be lawfully used in the management of a general ferry and
transfer business, and may acquire land, earth, gravel, stone
or other material necessary to the construction of said wharves,
piers or warehouses by agreement with the owner or owners
thereof.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said company is hereby
authorized to borrow money on its property and franchises,
by notes, mortgages or by any other way which, in the judg-
ment of the directors, may appear to be right and proper; and
the said company may also issue bonds and secure the same
by a mortgage on its property, but said issue of bonds shall not
exceed the amount of the paid-up capital stock.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the Elkton Banking and Trust Com-
pany.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Norris C. Cameron, Joseph T. Grove, William S.
Evans, Omar D. Crothers, S. Willis Lusby, Frank H. Mackie,
James H. Smith, William M. Pogue, Harvey H. Mackey, Henry
