Baltimore city from, the justices of the peace in Baltimore city
and the sheriff of Baltimore city, as adjudged by and accruing
in the criminal courts of Baltimore city, and collected or
received by or through the said sheriff shall be paid by said
city register to the library company of the Baltimore Bar for
its use and benefit. Said sum not to exceed, however, in any
year the sum of twenty-five hundred ($2, 500) dollars. This
section not to apply to Montgomery, Queen Anne's, Caroline,
Cecil, Anne Arundel, Talbot, Worcester and St. Mary's coun-
ties.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

ARTICLE XXXIX.
FISH AND FISHERIES.
CHAPTER 740.
AN ACT to add two new sections to Article 39 of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Fish and Fishery, " sub-title
"Head of the Bay, " to follow Section 2 and to be designated
. respectively as Section 2A and Section 2B.
WHEREAS, Fishing with purse nets has a tendency to decrease
the stock of food fish in the Chesapeake bay and its tributaries
by causing greater quantities to be caught than are marketable,
and in such event frequently allowing the best classes of fish
to be sold to fertilizer factories; and
WHEREAS, That practice of catching fish by said means dur-
ing the spawning season has a tendency to destroy one of the
most productive industries of the State; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That two new sections, to be designated respectively as
Section 2A and Section 2B, be and the same are added to Article
39 of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Fish and Fish-
eries, " sub-title "Head of the Bay, " to read as follows:
2A. No person shall at any time be allowed to fish with
purse nets at any point in the Chesapeake bay north of a line
drawn east from Sandy Point, on the Western Shore, due east
to Love Point, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
2B. No person shall fish with purse nets within the State of
Maryland south of the line drawn from the line aforesaid due
