and to levy said amount on the assessable property of said
county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary
land, That the County Commissioners of Queen Anne's county
be and they are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to
grant a pension of fifty dollars annually to Rebecca Lewis,
spinster, of said county; said pension of fifty dollars to be paid
in quarterly instalments of twelve dollars and fifty cents each
during her natural life; and to levy said sum of fifty dollars,
current money, upon the assessable property of said county,
and said pension shall be paid to Thomas H. Palmer, of
Stevensville, Md., as a trustee for said Rebecca Lewis, spinster,

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 340.

AJSf ACT to incorporate the Castlernan River Coal and Coke

Company, of Garrett county, Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That William M. Hall and Harry J. Graham, of the city
of Pittsburgh, in the State of Pennsylvania; Chauncey E.
Ellithorp and Thomas J. Johnson, of Garrett county, and Rod-
eric Clary and William A. Morgart, of Allegany county, in the
State of Maryland, and their associates and their successors,
and nil such other persons as shall hereafter become stock-
holders in the company hereby incorporated, shall be and they
are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate by the
name of The Castleman River Coal and Coke Company of
Garrett County, Maryland, and by that name shall have per-
petual succession, and be capable in law to acquire and hold
either by purchase, lease or otherwise, coal lands, and coal
mines, and operate the same for the purposes of mining, pro-
ducing, dealing in, transporting, buying and selling coal; for
the purpose of manufacturing, producing, dealing in, trans-
porting, buying and selling coke; for the purpose of conduct-
ing, owning, operating and maintaining railroads, tramways
and cars within the limits of Garrett county, which may be
necessary and convenient for the conduct of its business, and
generally for the purpose of doing all things that are legiti-
mate and proper for any coal and coke company to do under
the laws of the State of Maryland; to acquire and hold any
real estate and personal property which may be necessary for
the conduct of its business; provided, however, that the said
