1230 LAWS OF MARYLAND.
SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved March 30, 1908.
CHAPTER 210.
AN ACT to amend the charter of The Trustees of Lazarus
Church in Carroll County, a religious corporation of the State
of Maryland, by repealing section 4 of said charter and re-
enacting the same with amendments, so as to allow said cor-
poration to have and possess additional property.
Whereas George Grove and others, elders and deacons of the
German Reformed congregation, and George Walker and
others, elders and deacons of the Evangelical Lutheran congre-
gation, and their successors in office, were made a body cor-
porate by an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed
at its session held in the year 1854; said Act being designated
as chapter 307 of the Acts of the year 1854; and
Whereas it is provided by said Act of Assembly that said
religious corporation shall be known as "The Trustees of Laza-
rus Church in Carroll County;" and
Whereas section 4 of said chapter 307, limited the property
it authorized said religious corporation to hold, to the value of
eleven thousand dollars (f 11,000.00); and
Whereas since said religious corporation was formed as
aforesaid, the membership of said corporation has largely in-
creased, and it is now necessary for it, in order to accommo-
date its increased and still growing congregation, to build a
new and larger church house, the cost of which will be much
more than eleven thousand dollars, authority to do which is
prohibited by said charter; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 4 of chapter 307 of the Act of the General
Assembly of Maryland, passed at its session held in the year
1854, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments so as to read as follows:
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That said corporation shall and
it is hereby authorized to hold by gift, devise, bequest or pur-
chase any real, personal or mixed property: provided, it does
not exceed the value of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00).
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved March 30, 1908.
