CHAPTER 565.
AN ACT to repeal section 290 and 294 of article 22 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Washington
County," sub-title "Keedysville," and to re-enact said section
290 as hereby amended so as to read as hereinafter set forth,
and to add additional sections to said sub-title of said article
in amending and revising the charter of Keedysville.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 290 and 294 of article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Washington County,"
sub-title "Keedysville," be and the same are hereby repealed,
and said section 290 is hereby re-enacted with amendments so
as to read as follows :
SEC. 290. The Burgess and Commissioners of Keedysville
shall have power to pass all ordinances for the good government
of the town, to prevent, remove and abate all nuisances or ob-
structions in or upon the streets, highways, lanes, alleys, drains
or water courses, or in and upon/ any lot adjacent thereto, and
to provide for imposing a fine on any person causing or creat-
ing any such nuisance or obstruction, to remove or cause to be
removed at the expense of the owner, any houses or other struc-
tures that may be dangerous to persons passing along and over
any of the highways of the town, to make reasonable regula-
tions in regard to buildings to be erected in said town, and to
grant building permits for the same, to cause the water
courses, drains or sewers of the town to be repaired and kept
clean, to grant licenses for the sale of marketable commodities,
to control and protect the public grounds and property of the
town, to suppress vagrancy, to prohibit or restrain the keeping
of bawdy houses or houses of ill-fame within the limits of the
town, and to provide for the punishment of all persons who-
shall keep, authorize or suffer to be kept, any such bawdy house
or house of ill-fame, to regulate and provide for the issuing of
licenses or permits for all hawking, peddling and vending of
wares and merchandise of every description upon the streets
and highways of the town, to issue licenses or permits to all
itinerant peddlers who may go from house to house to vend or
sell wares and merchandise, to issue licenses for any and all
persons entering into or beginning transient business in said
town for the sale of goods, wares or merchandise, to regulate
and provide for the issuing of licenses to all traveling persons
who dispense medicines or medical advice; they shall also have
power to demand a license from all players or showmen exhibit-
ing within said town, and to provide for licensing theatres and
to regulate or restrain theatrical or other public amusements
