SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the money arising from the

tion or by sealed bids, after due advertisement thereof, to the
highest responsible bidders) shall be paid to the Mayor and
Town Council of Oakland, the clerk to whom shall keep in a
book for the purpose a full registry of the bonds sold, the serial
numbers of 'the bonds and the names and addresses of the pur-
chasers and amounts realized on sales, and any transfers or
assignments of the same.
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the fund realized from the
sale of said bonds shall be applied to the purposes of this Act
and shall only be paid on orders signed by the Mayor and presi-
dent of the Town Council and attested by the clerk to said
Town Council, and only on order of the Mayor and Town

Council of Oakland ; and the Mayor and Town Council are
authorized and empowered to pass such orders for the payment
of moneys due to the contractors for construction of said water
works as shall from time to time be earned by such contractors
in the prosecution of the said work and also from time to time
pass orders for payment of property purchased or condemned
and for material furnished in pursuance of the provisions of
this Act. The said Mayor and Town Council, in their discre-
tion, may employ a competent engineer to superintend the
work of constructing such water works.

Effective.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 27.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Burgess and Com-
missioners of Williamsport, Washington county, Maryland,
to borrow money on the credit of said town, for the purpose
of constructing water works and an electric light, heat and
power plant, or either of them in said town, and to issue
bonds for the payment of the same, and to levy on the
assessable property of said town, to redeem said bonds and
to pay the interest thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That for the purpose of establishing, constructing
