LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Appropria-
tion made.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore be and
they are hereby authorized and empowered hereafter to appro-
priate, annually, and to give for the use and benefit of the Hos-
pital for Consumptives of Maryland of Baltimore city, any
sum or sums of money which they may deem proper ; provided
the sum shall not exceed four thousand dollars per annum for
any one year.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 363.
AN ACT to incorporate the Maryland Construction and Con-
tracting Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Robert R. Henderson, James C. Shriver, E.

Body
corporate.

S. Anderson, F. Brooke Whiting and J. Phillip Roman, their
successors and assigns, are hereby created and constituted a body
corporate under the name Maryland Construction and Contract-
ing Company, and by that name shall have perpetual succces-
sion, and shall be capable to sue and be sued, complain and
defend in any court of law or equity ; to make and use a com-
mon seal and alter the same at pleasure; to receive and make
deeds and contracts ; to acquire, by purchase, or in any other
manner not inconsistent with law, deal with any property, real,
personal or mixed, and situate in Allegany, Garrett and Wash-
ington counties, which may be necessary or proper to enable
said corporation to carry out its operation and fulfill the pur-
poses named in this Act ; and generally to do every other act
and thing not inconsistent with law which may be necessary or
proper to promote the objects, designs and purposes for which
this corporation is formed.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation is

maintain and operate bridges, canals, aqueducts, sewers and
other public works in the State of Maryland or elsewhere, and
to contract with any person or persons, or any corporation or
corporations, public or private, for the construction and build-

same for such time and upon such terms as may be agreed
upon ; to use and to sell, lease or let to such person or persons
