SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Comptroller be and he is
hereby authorized and directed to apportion to Garrett county
its proper proportion of the said school tax for the year eighteen
hundred and ninety-eight, known as the " March instalment"
of said school tax, to be made by Comptroller in pursuance of
law on the fifteenth day of March in each year, in the same
manner as if the county schools of said Garrett county had
been kept open eeven and one-half months in the year ending
December thirty-first, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said Board of School Com-

county in the same manner as the other portions of the State
school tax received by said county are intended to be applied
under the provisions of the existing law of this State.

CHAPTER 22. ,

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners
of St. Mary's county to levy a sum of money to build two
county schools for colored children in said county.
SECTION 1. J5e it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

sums of money for the building of two school houses for col-
ored children in said county, the sum or sums so levied being of
such an amount as in the judgment of said commissioners shall
be sufficient to build said schools as are ordinarily built for
such purpose in said county.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the school board of said
county shall contract for the building of said school houses by
bids in the usual form, awarding the same to the lowest respon-
sible bidder ; one of said school houses shall be built in the
second election district of said county in the lower part of
Piney Point, and the other in the fourth election district of
said county, between St. Joseph's church and Chaptico, at such
point as the said school board shall select, with a due regard to
the present location of other colored schools in said dis-
tricts.
