415 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland, of
1896, and sections 139, 140, 141, 142, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147,

148, 149, 150, 151, 152, 153 and 154 of Article 20 of the Code
of Public Local Laws, title "Somerset County," sub-title
"Liquor and Intoxicating Drinks," be and the same are hereby
repealed and re enacted with an amendment, so as to read as
follows :
138. It shall not be lawful for any person or body corporate

to sell or attempt to sell, anywhere within the limits of Somer-
set county, intoxicating, spirituous or fermented liquors, except
cider and home-made wines, on the premises where manu-
factured in quantities not less than one gallon, and any person
or persons violating the provisions of this section, shall upon
conviction therefor, by the Circuit Court or a justice of the
peace of Somerset county trying the case, be fined not less
than $50.00 nor more than $100.00, and be confined in the
Maryland House of Correction for not less than six months
nor more than one year for each and every offence.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage ; but all violations of the provis-

ions of the section repealed, and all prosecutions pending for
violations of the provisions of said sections, shall be proceeded
with to trial and judgment as if this Act had not been
passed.

CHAPTER 241.
AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 75 of the
Code of Public General Laws, title " Pleadings, Practice
and Process at Law," sub title " Cases by Consent," to come
after Section 54, and to be designated as Section 51 A; and
to authorize the " next friend" bringing suits for infants to
compromise said suits, and in the absence of the parent's
consent to said compromise to empower the Orphans' Court
to authorize a settlement of the suit.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
