Article 71 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland,
title "Ordinary and Inn Keepers and Retailers," to follow after
section 6 and to read as follows :
7. For the price or value of any food or accommodation fur-

nished to any person at any hotel, boarding house, inn or ordi-
nary in this State, the proprietor, keeper of such hotel, inn or
ordinary shall have a lien upon all baggage and other property
belonging to or under the control of such person and in such
hotel, boarding house, inn or ordinary, and may keep posses-
sion of the same until the price or value of such food or
accommodation shall have been fully paid, whether then due
or to become due; and for the purpose of collecting the said
debt after the same shall have been due for a period of fifteen
days may sell such baggage or other property for cash at public
sale, upon giving notice of the time, place and terms of sale
by advertisement published at least twice in one or more news-
papers published in the city or county wherein the said hotel,
inn or ordinary is situated, the first publication to be not less
than ten days before such sale, and the proceeds of sale to be
applied, after payment of expenses, to the discharge of such
indebtedness, and the balance, if any, to be paid over to the
person or persons entitled thereto.

CHAPTER 218.
AN ACT to amend Article 27 of the Code of Public General
Laws, title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "Rape," by
adding a new section to said Article, said sub-title to be
designated as section 233 A.

and Punishments," sub-title "Rape," to be known as section
233 A, and to read as follows :
233 A. If any person shall carnally know, any female, not
his wife, between the ages of fourteen and sixteen years, such

carnal knowledge shall be deemed a misdemeanor, and the
offender, being convicted thereof, shall be punished by im-
prisonment in the Maryland House of Correction for a term
not exceeding two years, or be fined in a sum not exceeding
five hundred dollars, or be both fined and imprisoned in the
discretion of the Court ; provided, that nothing in this Act
contained shall be construed to affect or interfere with the law
