hereby repealed and re-enacted, before this Act goes into opera-
tion, shall be dealt with, inquired into, tried, determined and
punished ; and any penalty in respect to any such offense shall
be imposed or inflicted, and any fine in respect to any such
offense shall be imposed, enforced or recovered, in the .same
manner as if this Act had not been adopted.

CHAPTER 118.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
one hundred and fifteen of Article two of the Code of Public
Local Lawp, title "Anne Arundel County," sub-title " County
Commissioners," and to re-enact the same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section one hundred and fifteen of Article two of

the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Anne Arundel County,"
sub-title "County Commissioners," be and the same hereby is
repealed and re enacted, with amendments, so as to read as fol-
lows :
115. They shall appoint a clerk, who shall hold his office for
two years from the date of his appointment and until the quali-
fication of his successor. He shall be removable at the pleasure
of the County Commissioners and shall receive an annual salary
of not more than fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.) Said salary
shall include all fees or compensation of any and every kind

whatsoever, and the County Commissioners are prohibited from
voting to him any extra or additional compensation on account
of the performance of any duties directly or indirectly per-
taining to his office, including in such duties the making of
jury lists, levy lists and statements, publishing statements of
contingent funds, correcting and copying the assessment lists
or books, acting as clerk to the Board of Road Commissioners,
transferring and auditing accounts or the treasurers, and any
other duties that are now or may hereafter be lawfully imposed
upon him or required of him as such clerk.

from the date of its passage.
