LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Preamble.

tract entered into on the twenty-sixth day of September, in the
year eighteen hundred and ninety-six, granted unto the Freder-
ick City Suburban Railway Company of Frederick county, a
body corporate, the right to use a part of the turnpike road of
said Turnpike Company, commencing at a point opposite a
house on East Patrick street, in Frederick city, Frederick
county, MaryJand, then occupied by George Fox, and extend-
ing along said turnpike road to the eastern limits of the Agri-
cultural Fair Grounds, in Frederick county, for the purpose of
constructing and operating thereon an electric railway ; and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Said Frederick City Suburban Railway Company
of Frederick county, has expended large sums of money in
building and equipping a railway upon said road ; now, there-
fore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the rights and privileges heretofore granted by the
Baltimore and Frederick Town Turnpike Road, a body corpo-
rate, under said contract of September 26, 1896, to use a cer-

tain portion of the said turnpike road of said Turnpike com-
pany, for the purpose of constructing and operating thereon an
electric railway, be and the same are hereby ratified and con-
firmed, and that said Frederick City Suburban Railway Com-
pany be and the same is hereby authorized and empowered to
use said portion of said turnpike road for such purposes per-
petually.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
Approved March 15, 1898.

CHAPTER 63.
AN ACT to confirm and enlarge the powers and authority of
the Union League of Baltimore City, a corporation duly in-
corporated under the provisions of the Act of eighteen
hundred and sixty eight, Chapter four hundred and seventy-
one, and to change its name to the Union League of Mary-
land.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That the powers aud authority of the Union
League of Baltimore City, a corporation duly incorporated
under the provisions of the Act of eighteen hundred and
sixty-eight, chapter four hundred and seventy-one, are hereby
confirmed and enlarged and its corporate name changed, as
hereinafter provided.
