Fifty-four. To a deed from the Vestry of St. Lake's Church
to Archer G. Wilkens, dated March 1, 1898, and recorded
among the land records of Baltimore city, in Liber F. A. P. No.
804, folio 137, to a lot of ground in Baltimore city, fronting
thirty feet on the south side of Hollins Market space, with a
depth bounding on the east side of Dewberry alley of sixty-
four feet.

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved April 9, 1898.

CHAPTER 524.
AN ACT to extend the privileges, enlarge the powers and
amend the charter of the "Home Friendly Society of Balti-
more City," a corporation duly incorporated under the Gen-
eral Laws of this State.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, The Home Friendly Society of Baltimore City
was duly incorporated on the 15th day of May, A. D., 1884,
under the provisions of the General Laws of this State, re-
lating to the creation and regulation of incorporated companies
in the State of Maryland, and is desirous of extending its
privileges and enlarging its powers ; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That the Home Friendly Society of Baltimore City, in
addition to the powers possessed by it under its said certificate
of incorporation, and under the General Laws of this Stat6,
shall have and possess the further powers, rights, privileges
and franchises particularly mentioned in this Act; and its
charter, as set forth in said certificate, shall be altered and
amended so as to conform to the terms and provisions of this
Act.

Perpetual
succession,
etc.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said, The Home
Friendly Society of Baltimore City shall have perpetual suc-
cession, and may sue and be sued, and may have and use a
common seal, and the same may alter and renew at any time,
and shall also have power to ordain, establish and put in execu-
tion, and such by-laws and regulations as shall seem, necessary
for the government and management of said corporation, and
