the construction of the tow path of said canal, the same pro-
ceedings as prescribed above in this Act for obtaining the
authority and power to cross the same in the construction of
the canal itself, shall be followed as far as they are applica-
ble, and the authority to cross the same is hereby granted when-
ever it is necessary to cross them in the construction of the
tow-path.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That this Act of incorporation
is amendable at the pleasure of the Legislature.

CHAPTER 491.
AN ACT to regulate Horseshoeing in the City of Baltimore
and the Twelfth District of Baltimore County.

Effective.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall be unlawful for any person to practice
horseshoeing in the city of Baltimore or in the twelfth dis-
trict of Baltimore county, unless such person has obtained a
certificate and has been duly registered as hereinafter provided.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That a "Board of Examiners for

Horseshoeing
in Balti-
more, etc.

Horseshoers" is hereby created, which shall consist of tive
member, one of whom shall be doing business as veterinarian
only, two master horseshoers and two journeymen horseshoers,
all doing business in Baltimore city, whose duty it shall be to
carry out the purposes and enforce the provisions of this Act.
The members of said board shall be appointed by the Gov-
ernor, and the term for which they shall hold office shall be
four years, except that the members of said board to be first
appointed under this Act shall be designated by the Governor
to serve one for two years, two for three years, and two for
four years, and unless removed by the Governor, until their
successors are duly appointed. Any vacancy in said board, for
any cause, shall be filled by the Governor.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said board shall meet in the
month of May next after the passage of this Act, and organize
by the election of a president and secretary, and thereafter
shall hold regular meetings in the months of May and Novem-
ber in every year, and such special meetings for the examina-
tions of persons desiring to practice horseshoeing, as occasion
may require ; that they shall pass such by-laws and prescribe.
