ties to be approved by the Governor of the said State, with
the condition that if the above bound shall well and
faithfully execute his office and shall account for to the Comp-
troller and pay to the treasurer of the State the several sums of
money which he shall receive for the State, or be answerable
for by law, at such time as the law shall direct, then the said
obligation shall be void, otherwise to be and remain in full
force and virtue in law ; the said county treasurer's bond as
collector of county taxes, when approved by the said County
Commissioners, shall be recorded in the office of the clerk of
the Circuit Court for said county ; and the said county treasur-
er's bond as collector of State taxes, when approved by the
Governor, shall be filed in the office of the Comptroller of the
Treasury.

How
construed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That nothing in this Act contained
shall be construed to impair or affect the right or authority of
the county treasurer of said county elected on the Tuesday next
after the first Monday in the month of November in the year
eighteen hundred and ninety-seven to hold said office for the
term of years from the first day of January next succeed-
ing his said election, and until his successor in office is duly
elected and qualified, and to proceed with the collection of the
State and county taxes for said county, as now provided by
law.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 487.
AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and Aldermen of Frederick
to issue bonds to an amount not exceeding thirty-five thou-
sand dollars, to pay the cost of increasing the water supply
of Frederick City.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That at the regular municipal election to be held in
Frederick city, on the third Tuesday of April, in the year
eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, the qualified voters of said
city shall vote on the proposition that the Mayor and Alder-
men of Frederick shall issue bonds to an amount not to exceed
thirty-five thousand dollars, to borrow money for the purpose
of paying the costs and expenses to be incurred in a proposed
increase of the water supply, and the distribution thereof in
