hundred and ninety-eight, as will appear by the records of the
office of the clerk of the Circuit Court for Talbot county, all
that lot of ground«situate, lying and being in Bay Hundred,
district of Talbot county, and containing one-eighth of an acre
of land, more or less, and more particularly described in a deed
from Helen D. Tunis to The Guild of the Holy Innocents,
Chapel of the Protestant Episcopal Church of Claiborne, Tal-
bot county, bearing date the seventh day of March, A. D.,
1898, and now about to be recorded amongst the land record
books of Talbot county.

Effective .

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 399.
AN ACT to amend Article XXXV of the Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland, title "Evidence," by adding an
additional section thereto, to be known as Section 16 A.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of Mary-

amended by the insertion of the following section, to be known
as section 16 A.

Testimony
taken.

SEC. 16 A. The testimony of non-resident parties to a cause,
may be taken, whether in their own behalf or by the opposite
party, in the same manner as the testimony of other non-
resident witnesses; this is to apply to courts. of law and equity,
and to proceedings before magistrates ; subject however, to the
provisions of law in respect to the competency of witness.

CHAPTER 400.
AN ACT to add two additional Sections to Article 27 of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Crimes
and Punishments," sub-title "Destroying Property Mali-
ciously," to be known as Sections 59 A and 59 B.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "Destroy-
ing rroperty Maliciously," be and the same is hereby amended
