No. 142. An act to provide for the defence and in-
demnity of Henry Lloyd, J. Frank Turner, Ste-
venson Archer, Jacob H. Plowman and Jefferson
D. Loker, who have been, or may be, sued in courts
of the United States, or of the State of Maryland,
for certain acts alleged to have been done by them,
or any of them, as officers of the State of Mary-
land, in the enforcement of an act of Assembly of
Maryland, passed at January session, eighteen
hundred and eighty-six, chapter two hundred and
ninety-six, entitled " An act to repeal chapter five
hundred and eighteen of the acts of General As-
sembly of Maryland, at January session of eight-
een hundred and eighty-four, being an act to re-
peal article seventy-one of the Code of General
Laws, entitled 'Oysters,' " and re-enact the same
with amendments, and provide further police
regulations for the protection of oysters in the

article eighty-one of the Code of Public General
Laws, entitled "Revenue and Taxes," sub-title
"State Tax Commissioner," to be designated as
section one hundred and forty-seven A, to re-
quire the president of every corporation here-

Laws of this State, for transacting any business
for profit or gain, to file a copy of its certificate
of incorporation in the office of the state tax
commissioner before proceeding to transact any
business as such corporation, and to punish the
neglect or refusal to comply with the provisions
