LAWS OF MARYLAND.

office of the chief veterinary inspector and mem-
bers of said sanitary board appointed and con-
firmed at this session of the general assembly ;
nor shall any prosecution now pending for vio-
lation of the acts of eighteen hundred and eighty-
four, chapter one hundred and fifty-seven, and
eighteen hundred and eighty-six, chapter eighty,
abate : but the same shall be prosecuted to final
judgment under the provisions of said acts as
if this act had not been passed.

Effective.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted. That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Chapter 521.

AN ACT for the better protection of deer in.
Garrett county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That it shall not be lawful for

cbas-e or hunt.

any person or persons to chase or hunt deer
with a dog or dogs on Winding Ridge, Meadow
Mountain, Negro Mountain, or any place east
of the Youghiogheny river, in Garrett county ;
and it shall be lawful for any person to shoot or
kill any hound or hounds found chasing deer in
any of the places above mentioned ; and it shall
be prima facie evidence to convict under this
section if any person shall be found in any of
the above-named places with a hound, unless
such person be on his own premises or travel-
ing on some public road.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person

violating any of the provisions of this act shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon con-
viction thereof, shall be fined not less than
twenty-five nor more than one hundred dollars
for each offence — one-half to the informer, and
the other half to the school board of said
county.

Duty of con-

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall be the
duty of the constables of said county to see to
the enforcement of this act in their respective
