der the provisions of this act, immediately after
they organize and qualify according to law, all
books, papers, money, effects, goods, chattels
and property belonging to the board of county
school commissioners of Garrett county under
existing laws.
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That all acts and

parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions of
this act are hereby repealed, so far as the same
apply to Garrett county, and that the school
commissioners of said county be governed by
the Public General School Laws of the State
except so far as said laws are modified by this
act.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay
the claims of McDowell & Co., W. L. Pfeiffer,
L. S. Clayton & Co., and others therein men-
tioned, for work done and material furnished
in preparing the state house for the meeting
of the present general assembly.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-

sembly of Maryland, That the comptroller be
and he is hereby authorized and directed to issue
his warrant upon the treasurer to pay to Mc-
Dowell & Co., for carpets and matting furnished
to the state house, one thousand and seventy-
seven dollars and ninety cents ; to William L.
Pfeiffer, for labor done and material furnished
in upholstering and renovating the rooms and
furniture of the state house, six hundred and
forty-seven dollars and sixty-five cents ; to
James S. Taylor, for carpenter work and mate-
rial furnished the state house, two hundred and
seventy-one dollars and eighty-two cents ; to
