Chapter 58.
AN ACT to repeal section two of sub-chapter
two, and sections one and eight of sub-chapter
four, and section seven of sub-chapter eleven,
of an act passed at January session, eighteen
hundred and seventy-two, chapter three hun-
dred and seventy-seven, entitled "An act to
repeal an act passed at January session,
eighteen hundred and seventy," entitled "An
act to repeal an act passed at January sesion,
eighteen hundred and sixty-eight," entitled
"Public Education," providing a general
system of free public schools for the State of
Maryland so far as said sections apply to
Garrett county, and to repeal all laws incon-
sistent with the provisions of this act, and to
enact the following sections in lieu thereof, so
far as they apply to Garrett county, and to
provide for the appointment of school com-
missioners for Garrett county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That section two of sub-

eighteen hundred and seventy-two, chapter
three hundred and seventy-seven, entitled "An
act to repeal an act passed at January session,
eighteen hundred and seventy," entitled "An act
to repeal an act passed at January session,
eighteen hundred and sixty-eight," entitled
"Public Education," providing a general system
of free public schools for the State of Mary-
land, be and the same are hereby repealed so
far as said sections apply to Garrett county, and
that the following sections be enacted in lieu
thereof so far as said sections apply to Garrett
county.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the governor
shall, by and with the advice and consent of the
senate, at each regular session of the general
assembly, appoint three competent persons, resi-
