the distance of one mile from their respective

accomplish the same they are hereby authorized
to accept and apply the provisions of this act to
persons residing within the limits of their re-
spective corporations.
SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That all laws or

this act be and the same are hereby repealed.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That this act shall

Chapter 301.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money f or the
payment of the enlisted men of the Maryland
National Guard during the encampment of
the year eighteen hundred and eighty-seven.
SECTION 1. Se it enacted by the General Assem-

bly of Maryland, The sum of eleVen thousand
dollars, or so much thereof as may be required,
be and the same is hereby appropriated to pay
the pay rolls of the enlisted men of the Maryland
National Guard for service when ordered into
encampment in the summer of the year eighteen
hundred and eighty seven ; the pay of the en-
listed men to be as fixed by section ten of chap-
ter one hundred and sixty-two of the laws of
eighteen hundred and eighty-six.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the comptroller

of the treasury be and he is hereby authorized
and directed to draw his warrant upon the treas-
urer, to the order of the adjutant general of the
state, for the said sum of eleven thousand dol-
lars, or so much thereof as the adjutant general
may certify to be required, who shall disburse
the same for the purpose mentioned under the
direction of the governor and commander-in-
chief.
