SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That in addition to
|

over-charging

the charges herein mentioned for compensation
to the general measurers of oysters, it shall be
unlawful for the buyer of any cargo or part of
a cargo of oysters sold in the shell to exact of,
or retain from, the proceeds of said cargo or
part of a cargo due the seller, a larger or greater
sum or amount than one cent per bushel, in
which shall be included the amount now allowed
by law to be paid by the seller to the licensed
measurer, and any person or persons charging
or exacting a larger sum shall be subject to a
fine of fifty dollars upon conviction before any
justice of the peace, one-half of said fine to be
paid to the informer.

Effective.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Chapter 282.
AN ACT to repeal chapter three hundred and
fifty-eight of the acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland, passed January session eighteen
hundred and eighty-six, entitled "An act to-
repeal section fifty of article fifty-one of the
Code of Public General Laws relating to su-
persedeases before justices of the peace," and
to re-enact said sections with amendments,
and to re-enact the same with amendments,

sembly of Maryland, passed at January session,
eighteen hundred and eighty-six, entitled "An
act to repeal section fifty of article fifty-one of
the Code of Public General Laws, relating to
supersedeases before justices of the peace," and
to re-enact said section with amendments be
and the same is hereby repealed, re-enacted and
amended so as to read as follows :
