LAWS OF MARYLAND.

SEC. 13. And be it further enacted, That said
directors shall require all officers and employes

care and custody of any of the funds and moneys
of said company, or into whose hands the same,
or any valuable paper, or property of said com-
pany, shall arise, to give a good and sufficient
bond, to be approved by the president of the com-
pany, conditioned for the faithful performance
of their trust, and the duties of their office or
employment, and said bond shall be liable for
the faithful performance of said duties, and for
such sums of money, not exceeding the penalty
of said bond, as shall come into the care and cus-
tody, or hands, of the said officer or employe
executing the same, and said company is hereby
authorized to bring suit upon said bond in the
name of the corporation, in case of any default
therein.
SEC. 14. And be it further enacted, That if
any person or persons shall wilfully injure any

part or parcel of said bridge, or shall wilfully
obstruct the free passage over the same, or the
ways thereto, he shall forfeit and pay to the
State of Maryland, for every such offence, a
sum not exceeding the sum of fifty dollars, and
the costs to be recovered before any justice of
the peace of the State of Maryland, in and for
Frederick county, though one-half of which fine
shall go to the informer ; and in the event said
fine and costs are not paid, the person so com-
mitted shall stand committed to the jail of Fred-
erick county for not less than thirty days ; and
the right to appeal to the circuit court for Fred-
erick county, upon the part of the accused, is
hereby reserved to him ; but in the event that
said bridge is burned by any one, then this sec-
tion is not to apply ; and he, she or they, so
offending, as aforesaid, may and shall remain
liable to actions at the suit of said company for
further damages for said acts.
SEC. 15. And be it further enacted, That before
