Local Laws, entitled 'Allegany county, sub-title
'Sheriff,'" &c., be and the same is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments so as
to read as follows :
SEC. 159. The sheriff of Allegany county shall
be allowed for keeping and boarding prisoners
committed to the jail of said county such sum
as the county commissioners shall determine,

not to exceed the sum of thirty cents a day for
each such prisoner, and the county commis-
sioners shall have quarterly accountings with
him for the same, upon presentation of his
accounts for the same, with proper vouchers,
and shall levy for the same annually. He shall
also be entitled to receive from the county com-
missioners, to be levied annually by them, for
carrying and conveying each person under sen-
tence to the state penitentiary or the house of
correction, or to or from any of the jails of any
of the counties of the state, and the jails or
station houses of the city of Baltimore, or to or
from any other place of confinement under the
sentence or final order of any authorized judi-
cial authority, the sum of twenty-five dollars for
one person so carried and conveyed, and for
each additional person so carried or conveyed at
the same time, fifteen dollars, and said compen-
sation, so specified, shall be held to include all
expenses incident to the carrying and conveying
of such person or persons ; provided that, as far
as is possible, the said sheriff shall convey, and
shall be held and required to convey, to each of
such institutions all persons sentenced to be so
conveyed at the same term of court. No other
fee, perquisite, or allowance whatsoever, shall
be granted, allowed, or levied for said sheriff
except such as are specified in the Code of
Public General Laws relating to sheriffs.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
