SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That section thir-

teen of the act of eighteen hundred and seventy,
chapter two hundred and sixty, entitled "An
act to incorporate the town of Laurel," be and
the same is hereby repealed, the said section
being inconsistent with this act.

Repealed.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Chapter 95.

AN ACT to protect oysters in the waters of the
Great Annamessex river in Somerset county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-

sembly of Maryland, That it shall not be lawful
for any person or persons to employ any boat
or vessel in catching or taking oysters with
scoop or scrape, drag or dredge, or any similar
instrument, in the waters of the Great Anna-
messex river, in said county and state, east of
a straight line from "Tenth's" Point on the
south side of said river, to Porpoise Point on
the north side of said river, but nothing herein
contained shall be construed to prohibit the
catching of crabs.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person or

persons violating any of the provisions of this
act shall be fined in a sum not less than fifty
nor more than one hundred dollars for each and
every offence, and shall stand committed to the
county jail until such fine and costs shall be
fully paid and satisfied.

mation under oath of any violation of the pro-
visions of this act to any justice of the peace
for Somerset county, the said justice shall forth-
with issue his warrant to the sheriff or any
