State or said county may require; and in case of the default
of such treasurer to furnish such additional security required,
within the time specified, the said County Commissioners shall
declare said office vacant and proceed to fill the same as here-
inbefore provided in cases of vacancies.

SEC. 224. The County Commissioners shall appoint and
furnish the treasurer an office in the court house building, in
the city of Annapolis, and it shall be the duty of the treasurer
to keep his said office open from ten o'clock in the forenoon
until three o'clock in the afternoon, and to attend therein for
the transaction of business, in person or by deputy, on every
day in the week except Sundays and legal holidays; all
furniture, books, stationery and printing for the conduct of
the business of the treasurer's office, and all advertisements
required to be made by the treasurer for any purpose, shall be
contracted for and paid by the County Commissioners.

SEC. 225. The County Commissioners of said county shall
make their annual levy for State and county taxes, between
the fifteenth day of May and the first day of June in every
year; and the same shall he a first lien on all property assessed
for said taxes, from the first day of July next succeeding the
date of the levy thereof, and shall be due and payable on said
