CHAPTER 612.
AN ACT to repeal Sections 58, 59 and 61 of article eighteen
of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Queen Anne's
County," sub title "Centreville," and to re-enact the same
with amendments, and additional Sections.

Repeal.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That sections 58, 59 and 61 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Qneen Anne's County," sub title "Centre-
ville," be and they are hereby repealed, and the following
|
|
|
New sections.
|
sections be and they are hereby enacted in lieu of and in addi-
tion thereto, to be sections 58, 59 to 59 M, inclusive, and 61.

|
Assessors.
|
SEC. 58. William J. Price, Pere T. Foreman and P. H.
Fedderman, of Centreville, Queen Anne's county, Maryland,
are hereby made assessors of the property in said town for the
year eighteen hundred and ninety-four, and they are hereby
|
|
|
Duties.
|
authorized, empowered and directed to value and assess all the
property in said town as soon after the passage of this act as
practicable and to make prompt return of such valuation and
assessment, together with a full list of the property valued and
the owners thereof, to the commissioners of said town; and
the said commissioners shall, before the 15th day of May in
each year, annually levy a tax on said property as valued by
said assessors, not to exceed fifty cents on the one hundred
dollars in any one year, to raise such sums of money as they
shall deem necessary for the improvement, protection and
expenses of said town.

Oath of
assessors
|
SEC. 59. Before the said assessors shall proceed to act, each
of them shall make oath before some person authorized to
administer oaths, that he will faithfully and impartially
examine all property in said town, and value and assess the
same without prejudice or favor to the best of his skill and
judgment, and make a true return thereof to the said commis-
sioners. The said assessors when qualified shall promptly
inform themselves by all lawful means of all the property,
real, personal and mixed, in said town, and shall assess the
same at its full cash value, and shall make return of said

tion.

valuation to said commissioners, on or before the first day of
May, 1894. Each shall receive two dollars per day for his
services, to be paid by said commissioners as expenses of said
town. But they shall assess no property which is now, or may
be hereafter exempt by general law from taxation for State
and county purposes.
