FRANK BROWN, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

liquors aforesaid, the said bond to be signed by the applicant
or applicants and at least ten of the freeholders recommend-
ing the issuing of the license, with an affidavit of such free-
holders appended thereto, that they are respectively, each
speaking for himself, worth three hundred dollars in real estate
situated in Dorchester county,, over and above all liabilities,
which said bond shall, if approved by him, be filed by the
said clerk with the said application and recommendation for
license.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the clerk shall demand and
receive, before issuing such license to sell such liquors, from
the person or persons applying for the same, the sum of five
hundred dollars, and also one dollar as a fee to the clerk
issuing said license; but said clerk shall receive no commission
for collecting and paying out said license money; and the said
clerk shall pay over to the State sixty dollars from the amount
received for each license.

Cost of
license.

SEC. 6. And lie it enacted, That all sums of money received
by said clerk under the provisions of the last preceding section,
except that part paid to the State and the clerk's fee, shall be
paid over by him, one-half to the Commissioners of Cam-
bridge for the use of said town, and one-half to the Board of
County School Commissioners of Dorchester county for the
use of the public schools of said county, on the first Monday
of July, October, January and April in each and every year;
and the bond of said clerk shall be liable, at the suit of said
Commissioners of Cambridge or Board of County School
Commissioners of Dorchester county, in the name of the State
of Maryland, for their use, respectively, for all moneys received
by the said clerk under the provisions of said last preceding
section, and due to them and the State, respectively, and not
paid over by him as herein directed.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That if any person, firm, com-
pany, club, druggist or body corporate shall, without having
first obtained a license, as provided for in sections 4 and 5 of
this act, sell or otherwise barter, or dispose of, directly or indi-
rectly, or take orders for the same to be delivered in the future,
within the limits of said town of Cambridge, on or after the
said second day of July next, any spirituous or fermented of
other intoxicating liquors or medicated bitters producing in
toxication, or any compound of which alcohol forms the chief
or principal ingredient as aforesaid, he, she or they shall be
fined not less than fifty nor more than three hundred dollars
