CHAPTER 442.
AN ACT to repeal Sections three (3) and twenty-six (26) of
Chapter 71 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land of 1814, entitled an act to incorporate a company to
make a turnpike road from a square in the town of Boones-
borough, in Washington County, to Swcaningers Ferry on
the Potomac River, and re-enact said sections with amend-
ments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That sections three (3) and twenty-six (26) of the
Acts of 1814 of the General Assembly of Maryland, be and
the same are hereby repealed and re enacted to read as follows :

Repeal.

3. And be it enacted, That when one thousand shares
or more of the stock in the said company shall have been sub-
scribed, the said commissioners, heretofore named, shall as soon
as convenient give thirty days' notice in the papers aforesaid
of the time and place by them appointed for the subscribers
to meet, in order to organize said corporation, and to choose by

a majority of votes of the said subscribers by ballot to be,
delivered in person or by proxy duly authorized, a president,
eight managers, a treasurer, and such other officers as shall
be deemed necessary to conduct the business of the said com-
pany, until the fourth Monday of September next, and until
like officers shall be thereafter chosen, and such by laws, rules,
orders and regulations as do not contravene the Constitution
and laws of this State, and may be necessary for the well
governing the affairs of the said company.

26. And be it enacted, That it shall not be lawful for
the said company to ask, demand or receive from any person
or persons living in or adjacent to the said road within three
miles of the said gates, any toll for passing the said gate, more
than once in twenty-four hours for each team of horses, mules
or oxen with vehicle or wagon attached.

SEC. ?. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
