fail to appear or provide some one in his stead, or pay the sum
of one dollar on or before the day of his appearance, unless
for good cause excused by bailiff, the said person shall be
sjuilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof before
the police justice, shall be fined not less than two dollars and
stand committed to jail for two days or until the fine and costs
are paid.

91. For the enforcement of the town ordinances, the police
justice shall have all the power of ordering arrests and sum-
moning witnesses, trying cases, inflicting fines and punishments
that are now vested in them by law, and shall be entitled to
demand and receive the same fees as in other criminal cases.
He shall bo furnished with a copy of the charter and ordi-
nances of the town, and shall keep a separate docket for
corporation cases, submit the same when requested and render
quarterly statements, and pay over all the fines to the treasurer.

91 A. From any judgment rendered by the police justice in

enforcement of the ordinances of the town, an appeal shall lie,
by the party aggrieved, to the Circuit Court for Somerset
county; provided, the appeal is taken within thirty days after
the rendering of such judgment; but no appeal shall stay pro-
cess or execution upon judgment, unless good and sufficient
bond be given for payment of fine and all costs in case judg-
ment be affirmed.

100 A. Said commissioners may provide by ordinance for

cation thereof; and the printed copy thereof issued by authority
and under the sanction of said body shall be legal evidence of

the provisions of this sub-title, are continued in force until the
same are repealed or modified. All laws or parts of laws
inconsistent with this act, if any, are hereby repealed; but
nothing herein shall in any wise abate or defeat any civil or
criminal proceedings before the Circuit Court or any justice of
the peace of Somerset county, or before the board of street
commissioners of said town with respect to opening, straight-
ening or widening any of the streets, lanes or by-ways of said
