FRANK BROWN, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

CHAPTER 250.

AN ACT to provide for building a new court house and jail
at Snow Hill, in Worcester County, and to authorize the
County Commissioners of Worcester County to raise money
for said purpose by issuing bonds, and to provide for the
payment of the bonds so issued by levy of taxes on the
assessable property of said county, and to authorize the said
County Commissioners to apply the money received by them
from fire insurance on the loss of the old court house and
jail to the building of the new court house and jail.

WHEREAS, The Worcester county court house and jail were

destroyed by fire in August, in the year eighteen hundred and
ninety-three, by reason of which loss to said county it has
become necessary and imperative to build for said county a new
court house and jail, and to provide for the raising of sufficient
money for the payment of the costs of the same.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Preamble.

Maryland, That the said County Commissioners be and they
are hereby authorized and empowered to apply the sum of ten
thousand dollars, which has been received by said commis-
sioners as insurance on the said old court house and jail
destroyed by fire as aforesaid, to the building of a new court
house and jail at Snow Hill, in said county; and they are
empowered and hereby directed to set apart said insurance
money as a separate fund, to which fund shall be added the
money hereinafter authorized to be raised, and said fund shall
be known as "The Court House and Jail Building Fund;"
and they are directed to have said fund deposited in the First
National Bank of Snow Hill, to the credit of said court house
and jail building fund, over which fund said County Commis-
sioners shall have control for the uses and purposes hereinafter
expressed, and are hereby authorized to empower the treasurer
of said Board of County Commissioners, upon their order, by
his check, to draw the money so deposited in bank to the credit
of said court house and jail building fund out of said bank as
the same may be needed, and to apply the same to the pay-
ment, for materials or work, or on account of any contract
which may be entered into for the building of said court house
and jail. All orders for the disbursement of said moneys shall
be passed by said County Commissioners and entered upon the
records of proceedings of said County Commissioners; the
