CHAPTER 208.
AN ACT for the aid of St. John's College.

Preamble.
|
WHEKEAS, St. John's College has for many years per-
formed the duties of a Male State Normal School by gra-
tuitously educating a number of young men from the different
counties of the State, who become teachers in the public
schools of the State; and,

|
Preamble.
|
WHEKEAS, " The Visitors and Governors " of St. John's
College propose to extend the benefits of its free education to
at least one student from each senatorial district.
|
|
|
Appropria-
tion.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Treasurer, on the warrant of the Comp-
troller, be and he is hereby authorized and directed in addition
to the permanent annuity of three thousand dollars, payable
on the first day of January, in each year, by the State to the
Visitors and Governors of St. John's College, to pay them the
sum of six thousand dollars per annum, in three equal install-
ments, on the first day of April, the first day of July and the
first day of October, in each year, the first of said payments to
be made on and after the first day of April, eighteen hundred
and ninety-four.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 209.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Section
55 of Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"Calvert County," sub-title "County Commissioners.''

Repeal.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section 55 of article 5 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Calvert County," sub title " County Com-
missioners," be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments.
55. The County Commissioners shall, immediately after the
passage of this act, appoint a clerk to their board, who shall
