CHAPTER 141.

AN ACT authorizing and empowering the County Com-
missioners of Talbot County to appoint an additional con-
stable for the 4th Election District of said County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Talbot county.
be and are hereby authorized and empowered to appoint, in
addition to the two constables now provided for by law, one
other constable in the 4th district of said county, who shall
reside and have his office not more than one-half mile from
Hillsborough bridge, in Talbot county.

Additional
constable.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect :
from the date of its passage.

Approved March 27th, 1894.

Effective.

CHAPTER 142.

AN ACT to add new sections to the Code of Public General
Laws, Article 27, entitled "Crimes and Punishments," pro-
viding for the punishment of the offence of killing or
detaining carrier pigeons or homing pigeons.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That it shall be unlawful for any person or
persons to ehoot or otherwise kill or maim any Antwerp or
homing pigeon, commonly called and known by the name of
"carrier pigeon," either while in flight or at rest.

Shooting car-
rier pigeons,
unlawful.

SEC. 2. Any person violating the provisions of the preced-
ing section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon convic-
tion, shall for every such offence pay a fine not exceeding ten
dollars.

Penalty.

SEC. 3. That it shall be unlawful for any person or persons
to entrap, catch or detain any Antwerp or homing pigeon,
commonly called and known by the name of "carrier pigeon ;"
provided, however, that such pigeon shall at the time have the
name of the owner stamped upon its wing or tail, or having a
band with the owner's name, initial or number on its leg; and
